Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan, Kolkata organized a Medical Relief Camp during the Gangasagar Mela 2026.
Camp Operations and Personnel
- Duration: The camp was inaugurated at 6:00 p.m. on 10 January 2026 and provided continuous service until 7:00 p.m. on 16 January 2026.
- Staffing: A dedicated team of 31 members manned the camp, including one monastic member, five doctors, two male nurses, five pharmacists, and twelve volunteers. The team also included cooks, GDAs, and a driver for their hired mini-truck.
- Safe Return: The relief team returned safely to Seva Pratishthan on the afternoon of 18 January 2026.
Medical Services Rendered
- Patient Volume: A total of 7,496 patients received treatment, comprising 4,845 males, 2,551 females, and 100 children.
- Specialized Care: 279 patients required indoor treatments, which included ECG, oxygen support, nebulization, dressing, and the monitoring of vital signs.
Relief and Bhava Prachar Activities
- Winter Relief: The camp distributed 180 blankets supplied by the Headquarters to needy pilgrims and sadhus. Additionally, 225 pieces of new gerua clothes, primarily received from Belur Math, were distributed to sadhus.
- Spiritual Outreach: As part of Bhava Prachar, the team distributed approximately 7,000 religious books and 5,000 photographs of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda among the pilgrims.
- National Youth Day: On 12 January 2026, the camp observed National Youth Day in a modest manner.
