Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Hatamuniguda celebrated National Sports Day 2026 with zeal and enthusiasm through a three-day programme from 28 to 30 August 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey maestro, Major Dhyan Chand.

The celebration commenced on 28 August with a floral tribute to Major Dhyan Chand and homage to India’s sporting heroes. Students subsequently participated in the “29 Challenges,” including the Pass the Ball Challenge, fostering teamwork and co-ordination.

On 29 August, students and staff took the National Sports Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to fitness and an active lifestyle. Sriman Minaka Chandan spoke on the life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand. The day featured “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein” — encouraging all to spend an hour on the playground — and the “One Class, One Game” initiative to promote mass participation in sports. The highlight of the day was a spirited Teachers vs Students Friendly Football Match, which drew enthusiastic participation and cheering from all present.

The programme concluded on 30 August with the National Sports Pledge and Community Cycle Riding, encouraging fitness, camaraderie, and sustained involvement in physical activity.
