National Sports Day 2026: Hyderabad

In alignment with the nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and FIT India, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, through its Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence (VIHE), observed National Sports Day 2026 on 29 and 30 August 2026. The programme was organised with the objective of encouraging young people to appreciate the values of physical fitness, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and healthy living.


Programme at VIHE

The programme commenced at 10:30 am at the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence (VIHE), Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, under the guidance of Swami Bodhamayananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad.

The occasion was graced by two distinguished guests from the field of sports:

The guests interacted with participants and shared perspectives drawn from their respective sporting journeys, highlighting the role of regular practice, discipline, perseverance, physical fitness, resilience, and commitment in the pursuit of excellence. The interactions also conveyed that sports serve not merely as a means of competition or physical achievement, but as a powerful instrument for the development of character, confidence, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy striving.

Approximately 200 participants from various schools and colleges across Hyderabad attended the celebration.


Sporting Activities at NTR Stadium

Following the programme at VIHE, participants proceeded to NTR Stadium, Hyderabad, where approximately one hour of games and sporting activities was organised. The activities fostered an atmosphere of cooperation, camaraderie, and healthy competition among the assembled youth.


Connecting Sports with Swami Vivekananda’s Message

The occasion also provided an opportunity to recall Swami Vivekananda’s emphasis on strength, courage, discipline, and the harmonious development of body, mind, and character — values that underpin the broader educational and cultural mission of Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad. The events were held in the spirit of “Sports, Spirit & Unity” and in alignment with the larger aims of FIT India and National Sports Day.
