Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady organised an Inter-School Kho Kho & Football Championship on 28 August 2026 as part of the observance of National Sports Day. The occasion also marked the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, whose memory the day honours across the nation under the theme Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat.
The championship was held at Brahmanandodayam Higher Secondary School, Kalady. Despite the ongoing Onam holidays in Keralam and widespread seasonal rains, the competitions proceeded smoothly and without interruption.
In the football event, the Ashrama school’s team competed against the team from St. Sebastian High School, Kanjoor. In the Kho Kho event, the team played against Government Higher Secondary School, Chowara. The matches were conducted under proper supervision, with discipline and fair play maintained throughout.
The championships were organised with the aim of nurturing sportsmanship, physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and a healthy competitive spirit among school students. Participants demonstrated commendable team spirit, determination, and sporting skills throughout the proceedings.
At the conclusion of the programme, mementos were presented to all participating students in recognition of their efforts and enthusiasm. The event thus gave expression to the spirit of National Sports Day in a fitting and inspiring manner.
