National Youth Day 2024 : Gol Park, Kolkata


As in previous years, 12 January 2024, the National Youth Day was observed with all solemnity. The day began with the garlanding of the statue of Swami Vivekananda outside and inside the premises of the Institute by Swami Suparnananda, Secretary of the Institute. This was followed by the Vivekananda Music Festival organised at the Vivekananda Hall of the Institute. The day-long festival consisted of three sessions. 

The Morning Session commenced with Harmonium Recital by Ravindra Katoti with Rupak Bhattacharjee on Tabla. Pt. Ravi Shankar Upadhyay, Pt. Anindya Chatterjee and Gopal Barman presented a Pakhawaj, Tabla and Shrikhol Trio Recital, accompanied by Sangeet Mishra on Sarangi and Hiranmay Mitra on Harmonium. Vocal Recital was performed by Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar with Pt. Suresh Talwalkar on Tabla, Gourab Chatterjee on Harmonium and Sarwar Hussain on Sarangi. 

The Afternoon Session commenced at 2.00 p.m. with Manipuri Dance by Guru Thingbaijam Chourjeet Singh and his troupe. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, accompanied by Ashish Ragwani presented Bansuri Recital. 

The Evening Session started at 5.30 p.m. with Sarod Recital by Pt. Basant Kabra with Yashwant Vaishnav on Tabla. This was followed by Carnatik Violin and Santoor Duet by Vidwan Mysore Manjunath and Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya accompanied by Anantha R. Krishnan on Mridangam and Pt. Abhijit Banerjee on Tabla. 

The Institute building remained illuminated on this special occasion.
