Ramakrishna Mission, Falakata, celebrated the 41st National Youth Day, marking the 164th birthday of Swami Vivekananda, on 12 January 2026 with great devotion and enthusiasm.
The day began with a morning procession (Prabhat Ferry) around the town, followed by the distribution of fruits, sweets, photos, etc. to 138 patients of Falakata Super Speciality Hospital. The programme received wholehearted support from the Hospital Superintendent and other doctors, who also joined in garlanding Swami Vivekananda’s concrete image at 9:00 a.m. on the hospital campus.
At the Mission premises, Swami Vivekananda’s statue was reverently garlanded in the presence of numerous devotees and admirers.
A public meeting was held at the Junior Basic School campus in Falakata town, where nearly 700 students from eight schools and one college, along with many dignitaries, graced the dais. The Block Development Officer, an initiated devotee of the Mission, attended the programme from beginning to end. The local police station extended strong support in ensuring a peaceful and successful procession, especially considering the prevailing sensitive situation.
Later, a grand and colourful procession moved through the town, joined by many local businessmen and administrative personnel. The procession concluded at the Mission premises.
Following this, khichudi prasad along with sweets and fruits was served to nearly 800 people, and 49 blankets were distributed to poor and needy individuals in front of the Mission temple.
In the evening, devotional songs were sung, and discussions were held on the life and message of Swami Vivekananda, in the presence of a good gathering of devotees and admirers.
