Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Hatamuniguda, Odisha

The 42nd National Youth Day was observed with solemnity and deep reverence at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Hatamuniguda, Odisha on 12 January 2026. The day began at 9:30 a.m. with a floral tribute at Swami Vivekananda’s statue, accompanied by Vedic chanting and a collective recitation of the Swadesh Mantra.

The celebrations were preceded by a series of competitions held from 6 to 8 January, which saw the participation of 640 students from 13 institutions. These students competed in categories including Yogasana, Painting, Quiz, Elocution, and Essay Writing across three age groups.

During the public meeting at Vivekananda Hall, the Chief Guest, Dr. Shashank Grahacharjya (Director, Centre for Good Governance, Odisha), delivered an inspiring keynote on the essential values youth must cultivate for a prosperous future. The session also featured three youth speakers who explored Swamiji’s childhood, his message of faith, and the role of youth in building a “New India.”

The event concluded with a vibrant cultural programme. Students presented group recitations and pyramid formations that addressed contemporary challenges like religious intolerance and parochialism, illustrating how Swamiji’s teachings can foster peaceful co-existence. Swami Gitatmananda welcomed the gathering, and Swami Prabhuvarananda delivered the vote of thanks. Noon Prasad was served to all 800 attendees.
