Ramakrishna Mission, Krishnanagar, observed the 164th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and National Youth Day on 12 January 2026 through a series of devotional, cultural, and community-focused events.
Morning Procession (8:00 AM – 9:30 AM)
The day commenced with a grand procession from the Mission premises, featuring approximately 150 devotees and students.
- Route and Tributes: The procession traveled through Krishnanagar Town, where participants offered garlands at the statues of Swami Vivekananda located at the Krishnanagar Municipality and Nedierpara More.
- The march was characterized by the display of large cut-outs of Swamiji and the singing of patriotic songs. Participants also recited relevant portions of Swami Vivekananda’s foundational texts and carried placards bearing his messages.
- Upon returning to the Mission at 9:30 a.m., tea and tiffin packets were distributed to all participants.
Youth Convention and Local Outreach
Following the procession, the Mission hosted and participated in several educational programs:
- Discussion Session: A focused discussion on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda was held at the Mission grounds until 11:00 a.m.
- Lecture: At 11:00 a.m., Swami Mangaleshananda addressed a gathering of 50 students and guardians at the United Red Stars Club of Krishnanagar.
- Statue Inauguration: A major highlight of the day was the inauguration of a full-sized statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Taherpur C Block Barowari Durgapuja Committee. The ceremony was attended by 500 local residents, students, and devotees, and was marked by the traditional lighting of lamps and the sounding of conch shells.
