Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati observed Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2025 at Gopal Krishna Tea Estate, Borgaon, Morigaon District, on 14 November 2025, in connection with the 150th Birth Anniversary of the great tribal freedom fighter Bhagawan Birsa Munda. The programme was organized with the active cooperation of the Ramakrishna Seva Samity.
The event commenced with floral tribute and lighting of the lamp, performed by the Chief Guest, Sri Ajoy Kumar Dutta, Padmashree Awardee. Students of the Ashrama rendered the opening song in Bodo language, followed by a dance performance by local girls from the Tea Tribe community. A student from the Ashrama Students’ Home spoke on the inspiring life and contributions of Bhagawan Birsa Munda.
A welcome address was delivered by Swami Atmashuddhananda, Secretary of the Ashrama. In his speech, the Chief Guest highlighted the invaluable contributions of Bhagawan Birsa Munda and urged all to follow his ideals and path of dedication. About 200 people attended the celebration.
As part of the observance, a Maternity & Health Awareness Camp was also organized at Borgaon. Forty-six pregnant women from the tribal community of the locality were benefited through free health check-ups and awareness sessions, making the programme more meaningful and impactful for the local population.
