Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady observed the festival of Onam across four days in August 2026, with celebrations held at the Sri Ramakrishna English Medium School, the Brahmanandodayam Schools, the Swami Vivekananda Computer Centre, and the Ashrama premises respectively. Each event was marked by cultural exuberance, communal harmony, and the festive spirit befitting the season of Onam.
Sri Ramakrishna English Medium School — 17 August 2026
On 17 August 2026, the Sri Ramakrishna English Medium School conducted its Onam celebrations. A variety of cultural programmes were organised, in which students participated with great enthusiasm. The occasion concluded with the serving of a traditional Onam feast to all participants.
Brahmanandodayam Schools — 21 August 2026
On 21 August 2026, the Brahmanandodayam Schools celebrated Onam within the school premises with festive spirit and enthusiasm. A series of cultural programmes were presented as part of the celebrations, with students participating actively to make the occasion memorable. The traditional Onam feast (Onasadhya) was served to students, teachers, and Ashrama inmates alike. Swami Srividyananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady, along with other monks of the Ashrama, graced the occasion with their presence.
Swami Vivekananda Computer Centre — 24 August 2026
On 24 August 2026, the Swami Vivekananda Computer Centre held its Onam celebration. Students prepared a beautiful Athapookalam as part of the festivities. Cultural programmes, including Thiruvathira and traditional Onam songs, were presented by the students. Swami Srividyananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady, delivered a meaningful Onam message to the students, highlighting the values and spirit of Onam.
The occasion also served as a prize distribution ceremony. Awards were presented to top performers of the Vacation Courses conducted over the preceding two years. Students who had excelled in the July 2025, October 2025, and February 2026 batches were similarly honoured in recognition of their outstanding performances. A grand Onam Sadhya was served, followed by a variety of games and entertainment for students and staff.
Ashrama Thiruvonam Celebrations — 26 August 2026
On 26 August 2026, the day of Thiruvonam, the principal Onam celebrations were held at the Ashrama premises. A large and colourful Athapookalam was prepared in front of the Universal Temple. The Adhyaksha, monks, Ashrama inmates, and volunteers participated together in the celebrations — in keeping with the true spirit of Onam, which upholds the ideal of equality under the legendary reign of Maveli. The traditional Onam feast was served in the customary style.
