On 12 and 13 August 2022, on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of Independence of India, a 2-day program “Naya Jivan Garho (Build a new life)” was conducted by Divyan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Morabadi, Ranchi in Birsa Munda Central Jail, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
On the first day, 12 August 2022, from 7.00 am, Yoga practice was conducted by Sri Pritam Banik among 150 prisoners. After that plantation of litchi, mango, papaya and some
flowers was done by jail superintendent Hamid Akhtar, jailer Mohammad Nadim; Prisoners did it with Swami Ajpananda. After that the cleaning program took place.
From 10.30 a.m. on 13 August, 2nd day, Shri T.R. Gupta, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons; Swami Bhaveshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Morabadi, Ranchi; Swami Prabhunmanand, Swami Sukhmayananda, Swami Ajapananda, and Brahmachari Rajivachaitanya presented their encouraging and inspiring ideas to the jail inmates under the Naya Jeevan Garho program. Patriotic song was presented by the jail inmates. The program concluded with distribution of books and sweets.
