The Regional Sri Ramakrishna Kisan Mela, centred on the theme “Income Generation through Natural Resource Management”, was successfully organized at Kargenya Toli, Mandar Block, Ranchi District on 7 January 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, a vibrant atmosphere, and proved to be a meaningful platform for farmers to gain knowledge, exposure, and motivation toward sustainable agriculture and self-reliance.
The fair was organized under the guidance of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Morabadi, Ranchi, with active support from Vivekananda Seva Sangh, SHGs, and local villagers.
The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Hon’ble Minister (Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Cooperation), Government of Jharkhand. In her address, she highlighted the growing disconnect of many farmers from traditional farming practices and appreciated the increasing adoption of organic farming. She also encouraged farmers to make use of various schemes offered by the Agriculture Department.
Swami Bhaveshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, emphasized the importance and long-term benefits of natural and sustainable farming methods. The programme was graced by Swami Bhaktishananda, Smt. Chanchala Kumari (BDO, Mandar), Shri Manoj Prabhakar, Dr. Ajit Kumar Singh (Senior Scientist), Smt. Shanti Devi (Mukhiya, Karge), Shri Birendra Mohan (BPM, JSLPS) and several other dignitaries.
Speakers encouraged farmers to adopt scientific approaches, preserve natural resources, and integrate modern agricultural techniques for enhanced income and productivity.
An impressive exhibition of vegetables, fruits, flowers, livestock, and cottage industry products, produced by nearly 250 farmers, was arranged. Various stalls displayed modern agricultural tools, innovations, and information on government schemes, attracting great interest among the farmers.
During the farmer’s seminar, assembly, and award ceremony, 38 first-prize, 38 second-prize, and 5 third-prize winners were honoured for their outstanding contributions. Additionally, progressive farmer Shri Birsa Oraon received a special award for excellence and inspiration.
Cultural performances by village children delighted the audience. A Tata Cancer Screening Stall provided free health check-ups to a large number of farmers, promoting health awareness.
Overall, the Sri Ramakrishna Kisan Mela emerged as a memorable and impactful event, offering farmers knowledge, motivation, exposure to new ideas, and renewed confidence for sustainable agricultural progress.
