Summer Youth Camp: Jalpaiguri, May 2026

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal


A seven-day Summer Youth Camp–2026 was organized by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri, from 9 to 15 May 2026. The camp was conceived with the aim of fostering character building, discipline, patriotism, spiritual awareness, social responsibility, and holistic development among the youth. A total of 48 participants took part in the programme.

Daily Schedule

Each day commenced with the chanting of the Shanti Mantras with their meanings, recitation of the Twelfth Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, singing of Vande Mataram (National Song), and the performance of Murta Maheshwar. This was followed by Yoga sessions conducted by Sri Suvodip Saha Choudhury.

Spiritual Activities

Bhajan sessions were conducted daily by Swami Kalyanakarananda, Br. Muktishachaitanya, and Sri Pratyush Chakraborty, creating an atmosphere of devotion and inner upliftment.

Guided Meditation sessions, conducted by Swami Shivapremananda and Br. Muktishachaitanya, enabled participants to cultivate concentration and develop inner calmness.

Participants also visited the Book Stall at the Ashrama, where they were introduced to literature on spirituality, Indian values and culture, and the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda.

Creative and Social Activities

The camp provided a balanced environment for the expression of creativity and the cultivation of social values. Activities included:

  • Singing
  • Cleaning Activities
  • Instrumental Performances

Participants themselves served breakfast and lunch throughout the camp, thereby imbibing the values of teamwork, discipline, dignity of labour, and selfless service. Educational and inspirational film shows were screened each evening. Every daily session concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.

Valedictory Session

The camp concluded on 15 May 2026 with a Valedictory Session. The programme included addresses by monastic members of the Ashrama, sharing of feedback by the participants, a closing song, distribution of complimentary gifts, and a group photograph.
