National Youth Day Celebrations 2025
The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Visakhapatnam, organized the National Youth Day (NYD) Celebrations 2025 with the active participation of 35 Degree & PG Colleges, 10 Engineering Colleges, and numerous other educational institutions. Continuing the tradition from previous years, this collective celebration was held under the dynamic leadership of the Ashrama. While NYD was officially celebrated on January 12 by all participating institutions, the highlight of the celebrations—the Annual Vivekananda Shobha Yatra—was strategically scheduled for February 7 to allow more institutions to participate post-Sankranti holidays.
Participation of Dignitaries
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Vice-Chancellor (i/c) of Andhra University, the District Collector, the Commissioner of Police, the Principal Commissioner of Customs & GST (Vizag), the GVMC Commissioner, and the President of GITAM University (Deemed) cum Vizag MP. These dignitaries actively contributed to the event, attending two preparatory meetings organized for principals, NSS Program Officers, and NCC Associate NCC Officers, while the District Collector facilitated a third meeting through his office. Additionally, several educational institution management representatives took part in these sessions.
The Grand Vivekananda Shobha Yatra
The Annual Vivekananda Shobha Yatra was a grand spectacle, drawing over 5,000 students from various institutions. The rally was flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor of DS National Law University and the District Collector at the Government Women’s Degree College. Enthusiastic students marched with placards, and many donned symbolic attire, representing figures such as Bharata Mata and Swami Vivekananda.
Public Reception and Participation
A significant moment occurred en route at the Central Revenue Staff Quarters, where, under the leadership of the Principal Commissioner of Customs & GST, seven IRS officers, along with officials from the Customs and Income Tax Departments and the Divisional Railway Manager of ECoR, Vizag, extended a warm public reception. These officials, joined by members of the public, marched alongside the students, enhancing the spirit of unity and celebration. The rally concluded at the Vivekananda Statue at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama after covering approximately three kilometers.
Conclusion and Media Coverage
At the culmination of the event, all students, staff, invitees, and guests were provided with prasad (lunch packets). Additionally, each student received a book titled “Positive Thinking,” a compilation of Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts, as a token of inspiration. The event received extensive coverage from both print and electronic media, further amplifying its impact and reach.
