World Meditation Day: Ranchi, December 2025

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi

On December 21, 2025, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi, in collaboration with the Indian Yoga Association, Jharkhand, organized a special program to celebrate World Meditation Day. The event was held in the Ashrama auditorium and focused on the theme: “Practice of Meditation in Daily Life for Holistic Health and Prosperity”.

The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and the chanting of Vedic mantras.

Key Highlights and Speakers

  • Inaugural Sessions: The “Swadesh Mantra,” composed by Swami Vivekananda, was recited by Anmol Kumar, followed by a reading of inspirational quotes on meditation by Yoga Instructor Shri Anjan Kumar.
  • Secretary’s Address: Swami Bhaveshananda, Secretary of the Ashrama, welcomed the guests and participants. He emphasized the vital need for meditation in modern life, conducted a guided meditation practice, and shared anecdotes from the life of Swami Vivekananda. He encouraged everyone to “always keep the name of God in the mind and work with the hands”.
  • Scientific Perspective: The keynote speaker, Dr. Nishant Vibhash, a renowned Neuropsychiatrist from Ranchi, explained the physiological effects of meditation. He noted that regular practice:
    • Reduces the size of the amygdala, the brain’s center for negativity.
    • Increases neurons in the orbitofrontal cortex, improving decision-making and discipline.
    • Helps in controlling stress hormones.
  • Yoga Break: Shri Pritam Banik, a Yoga Teacher at the Ashrama, provided further insights into meditation and conducted a “Seven-Minute Yoga Break” for all attendees.
  • Guest of Honor: Swami Nirmalananda, Acharya of Maharshi Mehi Ashram, served as the Chief Guest and blessed the gathering, urging participants to maintain a consistent meditation practice.

Participation and Conclusion

Approximately 175 participants attended the event, engaging in collective meditation and sharing their personal experiences with the practice. The program was moderated by Ms. Shraddha Kirti, and a vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Amit Kumar, Secretary of the Indian Yoga Association, Jharkhand Chapter.

The successful execution of the event was supported by the dedicated volunteers from the Ashrama’s “Yoga Instructor Training” program.
