Rural & Tribal Services
Rural & tribal services are provided in three ways, viz (i) through our centres located in rural and tribal areas, (ii) through our urban centres which have taken up development projects in rural and tribal areas, and (iii) through our educational and medical institutions in semi-urban areas, where rural people form a significant percentage of the beneficiaries.
The rural & tribal work covers the following four fields:
a. Community Welfare Field
b. Medical Field
c. Educational Field

a. Community Welfare Field
In the year under review, the following services were provided in rural and tribal areas:

Ramakrishna Mission spent Rs. 6.31 crore specifically for Rural & Tribal (Community Welfare) services.
b. Medical Field
In the year under review, the Mission rendered medical services in rural and tribal areas through hospitals, dispensaries, mobile medical units, and medical camps.
c. Educational Field
In the year under review, the Mission rendered educational services in rural and tribal areas through various formal and non-formal educational institutions such as university faculty centres, colleges, higher secondary schools, secondary schools, middle schools, primary schools, nursery schools, computer training centres, coaching centres for school-goers and others, night schools and vocational training centres for various trades.
Further, a significant number of school/college libraries, public libraries, hostels/students’ homes, cultural units and museums had also rendered services in rural and tribal areas. These services were mainly provided by the centres in Aalo (Arunachal Pradesh), Hatamuniguda (Rayagada), Narainpur (Chhattisgarh), Narendrapur (Kolkata), Ranchi (Morabadi), Saradapitha (Belur) and Sohra (Cherrapunjee) through their rural development training institutes and integrated rural development projects.
The LSP (Lokasiksha Parishad) unit of Narendrapur centre and Janasiksha Mandira and Samaj Sevak Sikshana Mandira units of Saradapitha centre (Belur), extended dedicated services to rural people. The centre in Sakwar continued its comprehensive rural development project.
d. General Welfare Field
In the year under review, the Mission distributed rice/wheat, ration bags, snacks, meals, milk, hygiene kits, education kits, clothes, etc. and provided monetary help to people in rural and tribal areas. tribal areas.

In the year under review, the Math rendered educational services through a Sanskrit college, higher secondary schools, secondary schools, middle schools, primary schools, nursery schools, computer training centres, coaching centres and vocational training centres in rural and tribal areas.
d. General Welfare & Distress Field
The Math provided welfare services such as distribution of rice, wheat, ration bags, snacks/tiffin, meals, buttermilk, milk, hygiene kits, education kits, clothes, and winter clothes, and extended monetary help in rural and tribal areas.
