Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur observed the commemoration of Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Thanjavur and Kumbakonam (3–5 February 1897) through a series of programmes held from 3rd to 5th February 2026.
03 February 2026 – Tuesday
To mark 130 years since Swamiji’s visit, a programme was conducted at Morning Star Matriculation School for 150 students.
- Devotional songs were rendered by Smt. Meenakshi.
- Mr. Balaguru delivered a talk on Swami Vivekananda.
- Books on Swamiji were distributed to all the children.
04 February 2026 – Wednesday
A one-day Youth Camp was held for 130 students of Arasu Engineering College, Kumbakonam.
- A youth seminar was organised on the topic: “Are social media platforms helping today’s youth to grow, or leading them into distraction?”
- Prof. Azhagan Chandran inspired the students with his address.
- Swami Vimurtananda spoke on “Swami Vivekananda’s Success Formula for Youth.”
05 February 2026 – Friday
The day commemorated Swamiji’s historic call for national awakening on 5 February 1897. Several programmes were conducted:
- At the Kumbakonam Town Hall, MLA Shri Anbazhagan offered floral tributes to Swamiji’s statue.
- At Kumbakonam Railway Station, the site of the upcoming Vivekananda Museum was visited and reviewed.
- At MASS College of Arts and Science, Swami Vimurtananda addressed 200 students.
- In Aaduthurai, the annual “Vivekananda Sports Festival” was held with enthusiastic participation of about 6,000 students from 9 government schools, jointly organised by the Aaduthurai Selection Grade Town Panchayat and Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur.
- At Saraswathi Padasala, in a programme of the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Trust, District Judge Sri L. S. Sathiyamoorthy delivered the special address, and Swami Vimurtananda gave the benedictory message.
The events provided inspiration and helped students and the public reconnect with the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
