The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Durban, continued its dedicated humanitarian outreach throughout the month of April 2026, providing essential aid to indigent families across several regions. The relief operations spanned across Durban, Chatsworth, Pietermaritzburg, Ladysmith, Newcastle, Dundee, and Etete.

During this period, the Centre distributed a total of 291 grocery hampers, 1,796 plates of cooked food, and various nutritional supplements to individuals facing socio-economic challenges.

The comprehensive list of items distributed to 291 families is detailed below:

Food and Nutritional Supplies

  • Staples: Rice (536 kg), Maize Meal (218 kg), Wheat Flour (190 kg), and Pasta (74 kg).
  • Proteins & Legumes: Pulses (436 kg), Tinned Food (386 cans), and Peanut Butter (3 bottles).
  • Cooking Essentials: Cooking Oil (248 L), Salt (173 kg), Masala (7 kg), Potatoes (50 kg), Onions (25 kg), and Tomatoes (25 kg).
  • Beverages & Dairy: Tea Bags (25,100 sachets), Special Tea (70 boxes), Milk (198 L), Juice (134 L), and Cheese (3 units).
  • General Groceries: Sugar (268 kg), Porridge (128 kg), Instant Soup (70 sachets), Jam (171 cans), and Biscuits (23 packets).

Prepared Meals and Refreshments

  • Cooked Food: 1,796 plates of warm meals.
  • Snacks: 40 sandwiches, 40 muffins, and 30 loaves of bread.
  • Refreshments: 40 cups of tea.

Hygiene and Household Items

  • Personal Care: Bath Soap (131 bars), Toothpaste (70 tubes).
  • Laundry & Household: Laundry Soap (198 bars), Matches (150 boxes).
  • Clothing & Utilities: 22 Sarees and 70 Bags.

The relief efforts were carried out in the spirit of selfless service, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the community received both nutritional support and essential household supplies.
