Throughout the month of April 2026, Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur, conducted a series of impactful initiatives aimed at students, teachers, and youth volunteers. These programmes, held at the Ashrama’s Village Empowerment Centre and various educational institutions, focused on character building, academic excellence, and cultural development.
I. Motivational Programmes for Students and Youth
Several sessions were organized to inspire the younger generation to lead purposeful lives:
- Kanjanur (02.04.2026): A motivational session was held at Vivekananda Vidyalaya Primary & Nursery School, with the participation of Swami Vimurtananda. Around 125 students attended.
- Peravurani (04.04.2026): Addressing 800 students at J.C. Kumarappa Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Swami Vimurtananda emphasized that students should strive not only for “good marks” but also for “good remarks,” eventually evolving into “remarkable personalities.”
- Temple Cleanliness Movement (04.04.2026): 75 volunteers from the Youth Association for Cultural Development (YACD Trust) visited the Math as part of the nationwide “Paramam Pavithram” movement, focusing on the sanctity and cleanliness of temples.
II. Values Education and Creative Workshops
The Village Empowerment Centre served as a hub for nurturing the holistic development of children:
- Sri Ganesha Vidyasala (03.04.2026): A one-day camp was conducted for 60 children, primarily from families of daily-wage labourers, focusing on moral values.
- Sri Vinayaga School (15.04.2026): 45 students participated in a specialized training camp.
- Sri Sarada Devi Cultural Class (21.04.2026): 20 students from Divya Matriculation School, Sanoorapatti, attended sessions on cultural heritage.
- Drawing and Concentration (21.04.2026): A dedicated session was held for 20 students to enhance artistic talent and mental concentration.
III. Empowerment Programmes for Teachers
Recognizing the pivotal role of educators, the Math organized specialized workshops:
- Vivekananda Educational Group, Chennai (18.04.2026): Swami Vimurtananda conducted a creative workshop for 160 teachers. The discourse focused on the evolution of a teacher from an instructor to an Acharya—one who inspires and transforms lives.
- Natrampalli Centre Retreat (25.04.2026): A spiritual and motivational retreat was organized for 68 teachers from the Ramakrishna Mission’s Natrampalli centre.
These programmes collectively reinforced the Ashrama’s dedication to the educational and spiritual upliftment of society, following the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
