Tailoring Training and free distribution of Tailoring machines and kits to the beneficiaries

The 12 weeks training on tailoring was conducted jointly by Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Mylapore, Chennai, and Rotary Club of Gummidipoondi Industrial Area (Rotary 3231) at the Home Community Hall, Ramakrishnapuram, Poovelambedu in Gummidipoondi Taluk.

The trainees are women from the surrounding areas who were eager to learn new skills so that they could earn better and look after their families and livelihood. They are poor and in need of support for sustaining their families. The women are from the following categories – SC:17, ST:11, MBC:4, BC:1, and others:1 = 34.

An experienced trainer conducted the training for the women. She gave hands-on training to the women and helped them to use the machine to stitch various types of outfits, especially, women’s and children’s clothing. At the end of the training, all the trainees were able to grasp the art of stitching various types of garments. The trainer earned their respect by training the women in easy and understandable ways to stitch the garments.

Scissors, measuring tape, needles, and consumables kits were provided by the Students Home for the training.

15 Tailoring machines for training and the trainer were provided by the Rotary Club of Gummidipoondi Industrial Area (Rotary 3231).

After 12 weeks of training in the use of tailoring machines and sewing, 34 poor women were provided with new Tailoring Machines each free of cost thanks to Berkel Industries, Ambattur Industrial Estate, Chennai.
