The Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, commemorated the 42nd National Youth Day on Monday, 12 January 2026, with a series of spirited events and service initiatives.
The celebrations began with preliminary competitions held on 8 and 10 January, featuring inter-school and inter-collegiate contests in literary and sporting categories. A total of 688 students from 32 schools and 12 polytechnic colleges participated, with 114 winners receiving prizes for their outstanding performances.
On the morning of 12 January, the Home’s National Service Scheme (NSS) unit organized a Blood Donation Camp, successfully collecting 65 units of blood for social service. This was followed by a formal meeting in the afternoon, graced by Chief Guest Sri Thiruppur Krishnan, the renowned writer and Editor of Amudhasurabhi magazine. Swami Dharmishthananda delivered the benedictory address, inspiring the gathered youth with the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. The program concluded with all students taking a solemn oath through Swamiji’s Swadesha Mantra, followed by the National Anthem.
