In response to the ongoing flood situation in the interior areas of Block Sabang, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Medinipur conducted a flood relief distribution programme from 23 to 25 August 2026, covering nine severely affected villages — Lachhmichak, Kuilbheri, Kharika, Laro, Malpar, Manikora, Satsai, Chanda Gobra, and Chatarkol.
These villages, situated approximately half an hour by road from Sabang, are located in deeply interior terrain, making access and relief delivery a considerable logistical undertaking. The programme extended humanitarian assistance to a total of 390 families.
The relief materials distributed to each family comprised the following items:
| Sl. No. | Relief Item |
|---|---|
| 1 | Biscuit packets |
| 2 | Muri (puffed rice) |
| 3 | Chira (flattened rice) |
| 4 | Gur (jaggery) |
| 5 | Surf (washing powder) |
| 6 | Soap |
| 7 | Toothpaste and toothbrush |
| 8 | ORS (oral rehydration salts) |
| 9 | Drinking water |
| 10 | Saree |
| 11 | Dhuti |
The distribution was carried out in the spirit of selfless service, reaching the most vulnerable sections of the flood-affected population in these remote localities.
