A free eye screening camp for cataract surgeries was organized by Ramakrishna Math, Madurai, on 19 April 2026. The camp was conducted at the Math premises in collaboration with Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, to serve the underprivileged sections of society.
The details of the humanitarian service are as follows:
- Outpatients Examined: A total of 188 patients (88 men and 100 women) were screened by the medical team.
- Surgeries Recommended: 37 patients were identified for cataract operations.
- Distribution of Aids: 34 spectacles were provided to patients with refractive errors.
- Surgery Schedule: The selected patients underwent surgery on 20 April 2026.
- Venue of Surgery: All procedures were performed at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai.
The event concluded with the patients being provided with necessary guidance for post-operative care, embodying the spirit of Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva (serving God in man). cataracts during the screening were transported and operated upon the very next day, providing a swift and life-changing recovery of vision.
