Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar

A historic and spiritually vibrant chapter was written at Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar, during the visit of Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, the Most Revered President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. This visit, spanning from May 2nd to May 7th, 2026, was particularly significant as it marked the first visit by a President of the Order to this center since the late 1970s.

Arrival and Welcome

Revered President Maharaj arrived at the campus on May 2nd, where he was accorded a grand traditional welcome at the Vivek Dwar. The school band and students of the Higher Secondary section escorted him into the Ashrama. The evening was marked by Sandhya Arati and a warm interaction with students, staff, and devotees.

On May 4th, the building was formally inaugurated for institutional use by Shri Chowna Mein, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Dignitaries: The event was graced by Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona (Education Minister), Shri Wangki Lowang (Minister for Environment & Forest), and Shri Wanglin Lowangdong (MLA).
  • Facilities: The Education Minister inaugurated the lift facility, while the indoor sports facility was opened by Shri Wangki Lowang and Shri Wanglin Lowangdong.
  • Public Meeting: During a meeting at Vivekananda Sabhagriha, the Deputy Chief Minister felicitated the construction team. State representatives expressed deep appreciation for the Mission’s work and pledged support for upcoming projects, including a proposed 200-bed hostel and 64 staff quarters.

Other Institutional Milestones

  • Youth Convention: On May 5th, a convention attracted 360 young delegates from various schools and colleges across Arunachal Pradesh and Upper Assam. The sessions focused on “man-making” education through discussions, documentaries, and Q&A sessions.
  • Outreach: Revered Maharaj also visited Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Khonsa, to address the students there.

Spiritual Initiation and Departure

The visit served as a profound spiritual boon for the local community. On May 6th, Revered President Maharaj imparted Mantra Diksha (spiritual initiation) to 92 aspirants, notably including 20 individuals from various tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh.

Before his departure on May 7th, Revered President Maharaj planted a commemorative sapling at the Akhandananda Orchard and conducted a final visit to the institution’s various units before leaving for Belur Math via Dibrugarh.
