One unit of the Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) — Unit I, established with the support of the Headquarters, was inaugurated on 1 August 2026 at Ramakrishna Mission, Kharupetia.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the sacred lamp by Swami Jnanamritananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Kharupetia, along with the invited dignitaries. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Layela Das, retired medical practitioner, formerly associated with the Sports Authority of India. Mrs. Banasree Das, retired Assistant Director, Sports Authority of India, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, and Dr. Swapna Das, retired Professor of Chemistry, Women’s College, Krishnanagar, attended as Special Guest.
The programme opened with an invocatory song rendered by students of Maa Sarada Vidyamandir, Kharupetia. Swami Jnanamritananda delivered the welcome address, followed by the presidential address of Dr. Layela Das, who emphasised the importance of health, nutrition, and the holistic development of children. Mrs. Banasree Das spoke on the transformative role of sports in shaping character and discipline, and Dr. Swapna Das shared reflections from her childhood. The students of Maa Sarada Vidyamandir also presented a dance recital, which was warmly received by the audience.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of free study materials, sports equipment, and sweets among the enrolled children, followed by a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
