In a significant step toward modernizing experiential education while staying rooted in environmental values, a unique ‘Nature Classroom’—formally named Prakriti-Prayukti-Prangan—was inaugurated at the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya (RKMV) campus in Viveknagar (Agartala, Tripura) on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

The Inaugural Ceremony

The ceremony was graced by high-profile dignitaries including Sri Himanshu Gupta, IAS, Secretary of CBSE, New Delhi, who attended as the Chief Guest. Sri Debapriya Bardhan, IAS, Special Secretary to the Government of Tripura, was present as the Guest of Honour. The event was also overseen by Swami Shubhakarananda Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, and other senior monks and faculty members.

The inauguration was marked by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and the cutting of the ribbon, followed by a demonstration of the classroom’s digital capabilities.

Blending Nature with Technology

The term ‘Prakriti-Prayukti-Prangan’ translates to the “Nature-Technology Arena.” As the name suggests, the facility is designed to blend the serenity of the natural environment with modern digital learning tools.

  • Integration: The space is equipped with high-end digital facilities to facilitate smart learning and multimedia presentations.
  • Objective: To move beyond the four walls of a conventional classroom and inspire curiosity through “Green Learning.”

Dignitaries’ Observations

Chief Guest Sri Himanshu Gupta highlighted the importance of harmonizing nature with technology in the modern curriculum. He noted that such innovative spaces are essential for holistic student development.

Swami Shubhakarananda Maharaj remarked that this initiative would provide students with the opportunity to know nature more closely, stating that the classroom has been decorated with various “colors and moods of nature” to evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia.

A Global Benchmark

The inauguration comes on the heels of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya being recognized as a UNESCO-affiliated school. This new digital-nature hybrid classroom further reinforces the institution’s commitment to providing globally relevant, sustainable, and innovative education.

The event concluded with a formal assembly where speakers reflected on how this ‘Nature Classroom’ stands as a symbol for the future of education—one where technological advancement does not come at the cost of environmental disconnection.
