Ramakrishna Mission, Nabadwip

Inauguration Ceremony

The newly constructed Swami Vivekananda Samskriti Kendra was formally inaugurated and dedicated to the service of humanity by Revered Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, Vice-President of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, on Friday, 27 February 2026. The center is situated on the first floor of the Swami Gitananda Bhavan within the Mission campus.

Historical Background

The original Kendra traces its roots back to 1995, when the facility was a private ashrama. At that time, it was inaugurated in a small room by Revered Swami Lokeshwaranandaji Maharaj, the then Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, specifically to serve local youth.

Infrastructure and Development

The new facility has been realized through the funding provided by Sri Pundarikaksha Saha, Ex-Minister of State to the Government of West Bengal and current MLA of Nabadwip, under his “Bidhayak Elaka Unnayan Prakalpa” (B.E.U.P.) fund. The expanded center comprises:

  • Three dedicated rooms.
  • Swami Gitananda Hall: A primary hall for events and gatherings.

Purpose and Future Initiatives

The Kendra is designed to be a hub for intellectual, spiritual, and professional growth, hosting:

  • Study Circles: The Vivekananda Youth Study Circle and the Sarada Matri Study Circle.
  • Educational Resources: The Maa Sarada Library.
  • Skill Development: The ‘Atmanirbhar’ programme, providing job-oriented coaching for local youth.
  • Academic & Community Events: Hosting various seminars and providing accommodation for research fellows as needed.

  • Sri Pundarikaksha Saha, MLA, Nabadwip.
