International Yoga Day 2026: Kuralbhanga

The International Yoga Day was observed at Ramakrishna Mission, Kuralbhanga, on 21 June 2026, in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Tura Unit, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. The programme was organised under the global theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and was attended by students, teachers, devotees, and local residents.

The programme commenced at 9:00 a.m. with Vedic chanting by the children of the Students’ Home, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. This was followed by a welcome address highlighting the significance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental balance, and spiritual growth.

The gathering was thereafter addressed by Smt. Madhumita Bhownick, Principal and Administrator, Denovo School, Tura, who spoke on the importance of yoga in cultivating conscious living, emphasising that regular yogic practice helps individuals develop self-awareness, discipline, and harmony in daily life.

The practical yoga session was conducted by Smt. Dolly Paul, Yoga Instructor and National Yoga Player, who served as resource person for the programme. Various yogic postures and breathing exercises were demonstrated, and participants were guided through a systematic practice suitable for maintaining health and vitality, with particular reference to healthy ageing.

To promote awareness and encourage active participation, a Yoga Quiz Competition was also conducted, generating considerable interest and helping disseminate knowledge of the principles, benefits, and history of yoga.

Shri Haihungbe Mpame, Field Publicity Assistant, Central Bureau of Communication, Tura, addressed the gathering and explained the objectives of observing the International Day of Yoga, emphasising the importance of adopting yoga as a way of life for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The programme concluded with closing yoga chanting, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Subhajit Khutia, Headmaster, Ramakrishna Mission Secondary School, Zekabari, who expressed gratitude to all guests, participants, resource persons, and organisers for their cooperation and support. Food packets were distributed to all participants as a gesture of goodwill and fellowship at the conclusion of the programme.

A total of 120 participants attended the programme, comprising students, teachers, devotees, and members of the local community. The observance successfully conveyed the message of the International Day of Yoga and inspired participants to incorporate yogic practices into their daily lives for holistic health and harmonious living.
