A special lecture on Substance Abuse was held on 30 October 2022 at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Hatamuniguda. The programme started with Vedic Chanting by the students. Shri Ranganath Banerjee, the Principal introduced the topic. Dr Pradeepta Kumar Subudhi, Medical Officer In-charge, CHC Jemadeipentho, the Chief Guest, in his speech highlighted on use as well as abuse of drugs, the global prevalence of drugs, different abuse substances, treatment of drug abuse etc. by a PowerPoint presentation.
Swami Sandarshananandaji Maharaj, a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order presided over the function and in his address emphasized meditation, concentration, love and the importance of education etc. in the light of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. The programme concluded with the screening of a documentary – UMEED based on the matter. About 850 people, mostly students, attended the programme.
