On 2 August 2026, Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai organised a special programme in connection with the national launch of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” initiative of the Government of India, inaugurated virtually by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Approximately 500 students, teachers, lecturers, and devotees participated in the event, which was held at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of the centre.
The programme commenced with Arati and devotional bhajans, setting a spiritual tone for the proceedings. All participants solemnly took the oath against drug abuse in Tamil, affirming their commitment to a substance-free society.
Sri Dr. Thirugnana Shivam delivered an address on the ill effects of substance abuse, and outlined practical measures for preventing the spread of drug dependence among the youth. An interactive session with students followed, enabling direct engagement on the issue.
Swami Dharmishthananda also addressed the gathering, speaking on the urgent need for a drug-free society and the role of youth in realising this vision.
The participants also witnessed, via live telecast, the national event held in New Delhi, where the Hon’ble Prime Minister addressed the nation as part of the programme launch.
