Ramakrishna Math, Madurai organised a short programme on 2 August 2026 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm in connection with the launch of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” initiative of the Government of India, inaugurated virtually by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Approximately 150 persons, including students, teachers, professors, and devotees, participated in the programme.
All participants solemnly took the oath against drug abuse in Tamil. Two distinguished speakers addressed the gathering: Sri Manikandan, a Yoga teacher, spoke on the manifold benefits of Yoga as a means of holistic well-being, and Dr. C. P. Ravindran, a Psychiatrist from Madurai, spoke on the ill effects of substance abuse and the practical measures required to prevent the spread of drug addiction among the youth.
The participants also viewed the national event organised in Delhi, at which the Hon’ble Prime Minister addressed the nation. His speech, delivered in Hindi, was simultaneously translated into Tamil for the benefit of those present.
The programme concluded with meals served to all participants.
