Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Contai, observed National Sports Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and discipline on 28 and 29 August 2026, with the active participation of the hostel students, staff members, and members of local clubs.
The programme commenced at 6.00 a.m. with prayers to Sri Sri Thakur, Sri Sri Maa and Swami Vivekananda. This was followed by a yoga session in which a number of staff members, inmates, and students participated enthusiastically.
Shankar Kumar Das, former athlete and social worker, and Indranil Nanda, Yoga Teacher, graced the occasion and delivered inspiring talks on the importance of yoga, exercise, sports, discipline, perseverance, and physical fitness. Their words greatly motivated the students.
Various sporting activities, including cricket, football, yoga, and badminton, were organised during the celebration. The students participated with enthusiasm, discipline, and a strong spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the distribution of tiffin and snacks among the students. The two-day observance successfully fostered a spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness, making the lives of the students more vibrant and purposeful.
