Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jalpaiguri celebrated National Sports Day 2026 from 28 to 30 August 2026 under the theme “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat,” in response to the nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, and as per guidelines received from Headquarters, Belur Math. The three-day event commemorated the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand and promoted fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship among youth and the wider community, drawing participation from monastics, volunteers, students, devotees, and staff.

Day 1 was inaugurated with the National Song, National Anthem, and garlanding of Major Dhyan Chand, followed by a sports awareness and anti-doping procession. Sri Mihir Karmakar, Deputy Magistrate (Social Welfare Department), Jalpaiguri, and Sri Mihir Banerjee, President, District Sports Association, Jalpaiguri, graced the occasion.
Day 2 featured traditional and athletic sports events. Distinguished guests included Sri Anant Deb Adhikary, MLA, Jalpaiguri; Sri Ajit Kumar, Chief Manager, State Bank of India, Jalpaiguri; Sri Gautam Das, Additional Public Prosecutor, Jalpaiguri; and office-bearers of the District Council for School Games and Sports, Jalpaiguri.
Day 3 concluded the celebrations with a Marathon and Walkathon, encouraging broad community participation. A theme song composed on the ideals of Swami Vivekananda was played across all three days.
