National Sports Day 2026: Kailashahar

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kailashahar

In response to the nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and in accordance with guidelines from Headquarters, Belur Math, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kailashahar celebrated National Sports Day 2026 over two days within the Ashrama premises. The programme commemorated the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and promoted the ideals of physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. Monks, volunteers, students, devotees, admirers, and staff participated enthusiastically throughout.

Day One — 28 August 2026

The programme began with the singing of the National Song and the National Anthem, followed by a discussion on the life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand and a health-awareness session. Activities including Yoga, Volleyball, and Football were conducted. A total of 46 participants attended. The day concluded with the distribution of energy drinks and refreshments.

Day Two — 29 August 2026 (National Sports Day)

The second day was devoted primarily to school students. Following the National Song and National Anthem, a range of activities was conducted, including Yoga, Physical Training (PT), Badminton, Football, Volleyball, Running, Carrom, and other sports. Refreshments were served in the morning, and a community lunch was arranged at the conclusion. Energy drinks were distributed to all participants.

The celebration was carried out with the sincere efforts and active cooperation of the monks, volunteers, and staff of the Ashrama.
