Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani observed National Sports Day from 28 to 30 August 2025 with a three-day programme conducted under the Government of India’s initiative “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat”. The celebrations, held in memory of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, brought together students, differently-abled individuals, tribal communities, and local residents in a spirit of sportsmanship, inclusion, and physical well-being.
Day 1 — 28 August 2025: Awareness Lecture and Motivational Programme
The first day was marked by an awareness and motivational programme on sports. Two eminent speakers addressed the gathering:

A special session was arranged for mentally challenged participants, in which 10 participants themselves demonstrated various Yoga and Pranayama techniques, showcasing their physical and mental abilities. A short film on indigenous Indian sports was also screened during the programme. Snack packets were distributed to all participants at the close of the session. A total of nearly 120 participants attended the day’s events.
Day 2 — 29 August 2025: Friendly Football Match for Tribal Students
On the second day, a friendly football match was organised exclusively for tribal students of Vir Sidhu Kanu Nagar High School, held at the school’s own playground. Each team fielded 11 players, with 4 reserve players per team, bringing the total number of participating students to 30. The match was greeted with enthusiastic support from local residents and members of the tribal community, who gathered in large numbers to cheer the players.
At the conclusion of the match, trophies were presented to both the winning and runner-up teams, and a light tiffin was served to all participants.
Day 3 — 30 August 2025: Cycle Rally
The three-day celebration concluded with a cycle rally along a designated route covering the following points:
Ramakrishna Mission → No. 2 Market → ITI More → Kalyani Municipality → Lake Garden Ticket Counter → Vivekananda Park → Central Park → Ramakrishna Mission
A total of 60 cyclists participated in the rally. At Vivekananda Park, the procession made a dedicated stop, where a floral garland was offered at the statue of Swami Vivekananda as a mark of reverence. Glucose and tiffin were distributed to all participants upon the conclusion of the ride.

The three-day National Sports Day celebration at Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani successfully united people from diverse sections of society — students, differently-abled participants, tribal communities, and local residents — under the spirit of the “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat” initiative.
