The National Youth Day celebrations on 12 January 2026 at the Kenduadihi campus of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Bankura, commenced at 9:00 AM with a solemn flag-hosting ceremony. A group of 90 young participants (64 boys and 26 girls) gathered before the full-length statue of Swami Vivekananda, raising spirited slogans in his honor.
Procession and Cycle Rally: At 9:15 AM, the traditional lighting of the torch and lamp took place, followed by the flagging off of a grand cycle rally featuring a beautifully decorated tableau. The rally was inaugurated by the Guest of Honor, Sri Sujoy Tunga (Officer-in-Charge, Bankura Police Station), and Swami Krittivasanandaji Maharaj (Adhyaksha and Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Bankura).
Event at Bankura Police Lines: The cycle rally reached the Bankura Police Lines at 9:30 AM. The program was attended by Sri Krishanu Roy (Additional Superintendent of Police, HQ, Bankura), along with other district police officials and personnel.
- Tributes: Swami Krittivasanandaji Maharaj and the Additional SP (HQ) offered floral garlands at the statue of Swami Vivekananda. Other attendees followed by offering floral tributes.
- Proceedings: The event included the recitation of the poem ‘Swamiji Smaranne’ (In Memory of Swamiji). Brief yet inspiring speeches were delivered by the Adhyaksha Maharaj and the Additional SP.
- Hospitality: At the conclusion of this segment, the Bankura District Police distributed sweets (Laddoos) to all participants.
Outreach and Return: The rally then proceeded to Bankura Zilla Saradamani Mahila Mahavidyapith in Nutanchati, where Swami Krittivasanandaji Maharaj offered garlands to two statues of Sri Sarada Devi. On the return journey, the procession visited ‘Vivekananda Udyan’ (under Bankura Municipality) in Chandmaridanga to offer tributes at Swamiji’s statue. The rally finally returned to the Kenduadihi Sevashrama campus at 10:45 AM.
Main Cultural Program: The main commemorative event at the Sevashrama began at 12:00 PM with opening devotional songs.
- Youth Participation: Youth representatives performed recitations and songs related to Swami Vivekananda. The significance of National Youth Day was discussed among the gathered students, teachers, and well-wishers.
- Drama Performance: The highlight of the day was a theatrical performance of Manoj Mitra’s famous play, ‘Chokhe Angul Dada’, enacted by the youth members of the Sevashrama. The performance was highly appreciated by the audience.
Conclusion: The celebrations concluded with the distribution of Prasad to everyone in attendance.
