Report: National Youth Day Celebrations 2026
Ramakrishna Math, Bolpur
Ramakrishna Math, Bolpur, commemorated National Youth Day on 12 January 2026 with a two-part celebration that successfully engaged both the younger student community and the local youth.
Morning Session: Prabhat Pheri (Procession)
The day began at 7:30 AM with a vibrant Prabhat Pheri (morning procession), drawing approximately 900 participants.
- Participants: The procession was led by 450 students from the Math’s Primary School, joined by 300 students from seven other local schools.
- Musical Escort: The walk was spearheaded by the NCC Band of Bolpur High School, providing a disciplined and rhythmic accompaniment.
- Community Involvement: Around 150 local devotees and youth volunteers also joined the march through the town.
- Hospitality: Upon the conclusion of the procession, tiffin packets were distributed to all participants.
Afternoon Session: Youth Convention
A dedicated convention for local youth was held at the Math premises from 3:00 PM onwards, focusing on the spiritual and intellectual legacy of Swami Vivekananda.
- Attendance: Approximately 350 students and young adults from various local schools and colleges participated in the afternoon program.
- Key Activities: The event featured a selection of devotional and inspirational songs dedicated to Swamiji, insightful lectures by monastic members, and readings from Swamiji’s foundational works.
The day’s events provided a platform for the youth of Bolpur to connect with the “Man-making and Nation-building” ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
