Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Ramharipur, celebrated National Youth Day and the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 12 January 2026. The event was organized with great solemnity and purpose, focusing on instilling Swamiji’s values in the younger generation.
Participation and Attendees
The programme drew a diverse group of participants from the local community:
- Invited Guests: A total of 229 students (both boys and girls) from 12 neighboring schools attended the event.
- Student Representatives: Ashrama students worked alongside visiting students to present a series of tributes to Swami Vivekananda.
Programme Highlights
The event, which ran from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, featured various cultural and educational segments:
- Tributes in Verse and Song: Students participated in poetry recitations focused on Swamiji’s life and performed soulful renditions of Vivek Geeti.
- Youth Perspectives: Several students were given the platform to express their personal views on how Swami Vivekananda’s teachings remain relevant today.
- Monastic Addresses: The gathering was addressed by Swami Madhuhanandaji, Swami Jayeshanandaji, Swami Haramayanandaji, and Brahmachari Niramayachaitanya, each providing short but impactful speeches on Swamiji’s core philosophy.
- Presiding Authority: The meeting was presided over by Swami Stavapriyananda.
Gifts and Hospitality
To ensure the message of the day remained with the participants, books on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings were presented to every student. Furthermore, the Ashrama provided breakfast and noon prasad to all attendees.
