On 12 January 2026, Ramakrishna Math, Gourhati, celebrated the 42nd National Youth Day and the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with a grand afternoon program. The event, held on a beautifully decorated podium featuring Swamiji’s photos, messages, and floral arrangements, drew a total of 145 youth participants.
Event Highlights
- Commencement: The program began at 3:30 PM with Vedic chants performed by students, followed by an inaugural song.
- Welcome Address: Adhyaksha Maharaj, Swami Pranaramananda, welcomed the students and encouraged them to listen to the proceedings with deep concentration.
- Collective Recitation: All attendees joined in reciting Swamiji’s ‘Swadesh Mantra’.
Student and Guest Contributions
- Student Presentations: Students actively participated by delivering speeches on the role of youth in fulfilling Swami Vivekananda’s vision, as well as performing songs and recitations.
- Guest Speakers:
- Sisir Kumar Jana (Special Guest) advised students to follow Swamiji’s ideals.
- Teachers Swarup Kumar Chowdhury and Pranab Kumar Ghorui spoke on the importance of character building.
- Subrata Konar (Headmaster of a local High School) delivered an impressive speech regarding the significance of National Youth Day.
Conclusion
The celebration concluded with a chorus of the song ‘Swamijir mantra mora bhulbo na’ and a vote of thanks by the Adhyaksha Maharaj. All participating youths were provided with tiffin, marking the successful end of the festive and educational event.
