The Ramakrishna Mission TB Sanatorium in Ranchi observed National Youth Day on January 12, 2026, celebrating the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The event was attended by more than 1,050 participants, including students, teachers, devotees, and monks.
Commemorative Procession
The celebrations commenced at 9:00 a.m. with a grand procession originating from Bermad School.
- Route: Participants marched approximately 2 km along Balsiring Road to Vivekananda Circle within the Sanatorium premises.
- Participation: Students and staff from several local schools—including Mahatma Gandhi School, Mother Teresa Memorial School, St. Thomas High School, Sri Govind High School, Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa, and Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa—joined the march.
- Observance: Carrying posters and placards detailing Swamiji’s ideals, the procession concluded with the garlanding of the life-like statue of Swami Vivekananda, accompanied by a student band performance.
Youth Competitions and Cultural Programs
Following the procession, activities shifted to the celebration mandapa where students engaged in various competitions and cultural displays:
- Speeches: Students delivered addresses on themes such as “Swamiji’s Life and Teachings” and “Swamiji’s India”.
- Recitations: Junior and senior groups recited iconic works, including “Sannyasi Ka Geet” and “Swadesh Mantra”.
- Performances: Participating schools presented group songs and traditional dances, concluding with a closing song by students of the Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP).
Dignitaries and Awards
The event was graced by several distinguished guests:
- Chief Guest: Sri Abhaya Shankar, Retired District Education Officer.
- Special Guests: Sri Subhas Mukherjee (Rtd. Associate Professor), Sri Kamlesh Prasad (World Bank Specialist), and Sri Naresh Kumar Jain (Rtd. Director, New Delhi TB Centre).
Awards Ceremony: The top three winners in each category received prizes. Additionally, all contestants were given consolation prizes, and group performers were honored with mementos.
