Recognizing National Youth Day as a vital opportunity to share the life and message of Swami Vivekananda with the younger generation, Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur, conducted an extensive series of celebrations throughout nearly the entire month of January.
Program Overview
- Duration: The celebrations spanned from January 5th to January 24th, 2026.
- Scope: A total of 16 programs were successfully organized, reaching students and youth both on the Math’s campus and at various external educational institutions.
- Impact: The events saw a remarkable total participation of 10,060 individuals, including school and college students, teachers, and local youth.
Inspirational Gifts
To ensure a lasting impact, all participants were presented with tokens of inspiration. Depending on the event, attendees received either:
Mementoes: Laminated portraits of Swami Vivekananda to serve as a daily source of strength and guidance.
Literature: Motivational books authored on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
Seminar on Personality Development
Date: 05.01.2026 Participants: 200 students from the Marudhupandiyar Group of Educational Institutions.
- Organization: This was a joint effort between the Marudhupandiyar Group and Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur.
- Key Sessions:
- Sri Vijay Mitra: Discussed the importance of personality development using vivid examples from Swami Vivekananda’s life.
- Sri Chidambaram Krishna: Provided an elaboration on the “golden sayings” of Swami Vivekananda.
- Swami Vimurtananda: Concluded the session with a benedictory address.
Motivational Convention
Date: 06.01.2026 Participants: 1,000 students and 50 lecturers and staff members.
- Organization: Jointly organized by Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, and Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur.
- Speakers:
- Dr. Mathangi (Professor, Ramachandra Medical College): Highlighted the necessity of discovering and nurturing the unique talents within every person.
- Swami Vimurtananda: Delivered a motivational talk drawing on the ideas and life of Swami Vivekananda.
District-Level Karate Tournament
Date: 11.01.2026 Venue: Village Empowerment Centre of Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur.
This event was organized as a tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s ideals concerning self-reliance, self-defense, and courage.
- Key Values: The tournament emphasized Swamiji’s belief that individual self-defense and national self-reliance are vital values.
- Honoured Guest: Sri S. Murasoli, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Thanjavur), served as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the global service of the Ramakrishna Math and shared inspiring anecdotes about Swamiji with the youth.
- Recognition: Certificates, prizes, and food were distributed by the Math to the 200 students who participated.
Special Session for NCC Cadets
Date: 22.01.2026 Venue: Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur
A unique workshop titled “We, the 100 of Swami Vivekananda” was organized for 120 NCC cadets. The session focused on the holistic refinement of the body, mind, and intellect.
- Keynote Address: Participants viewed a motivational video address by Sri Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor of India.
- Military & Discipline Insights: The cadets were addressed by Wing Commander Jayakumar and Colonel Kapil Tuli.
- Health & Sustainability: Dr. Kalaimahal (Naturopathy Physician) conducted wellness sessions, while Sri Siddhar (Natural Farming Scientist) shared insights on disciplined living and agriculture.
- Spiritual Guidance: Swami Vimurtananda delivered a powerful talk on the theme, “Be Fearless; Be Useful.”
Educational & Research Outreach

The Math reached out to both school students and advanced research scholars in two separate sessions:
- Kamala Subramaniam Matriculation Higher Secondary School: Approximately 300 students attended a session where Advocate Dr. Sathyakumar discussed Swamiji’s vision for eradicating poverty. Swami Vimurtananda provided practical examples of how students can achieve mental unity, strength, and peace.
- NIFTEM–T, Thanjavur: A program for 150 research scholars and students featured special addresses by Sri Palanimuthu (Director, NIFTEM–T), Dr. Sathyakumar, and Swami Vimurtananda, focusing on the application of Vedantic principles in modern research and professional life.
Seminar for Young Advocates
Date: 24.01.2026 Venue: Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur
The series concluded at the Math with a specialized program for 100 young advocates.
- Core Philosophy: Advocate Sri M. Sathyakumar explained the legal relevance of Swamiji’s message: “Heart to feel, brain to think, and hands to work.”
- Qualities of an Ideal Lawyer:Swami Vimurtananda highlighted five essential traits for legal professionals inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s vision:
