Distress Relief

The following centres distributed the items shown against their names to needy people:

India

Baranagar Mission, Kolkata: 8 dhotis, 134 saris and 45 lungis from 25 September to 28 October.

Belgharia, Kolkata: 1025 saris and 939 lungis from 9 September to 5 January.

Dibrugarh: 840 plates of food, 320 kg wheat flour, 80 kg chira, 160 kg pulses, 80 kg soya chunks, 160 kg salt, 160 litres cooking oil, 160 kg sugar, 160 packets of biscuits, 160 bars of bathing soap and 160 bars of washing soap from December to March.

Digboi: 337 saris and 235 dhotis from 4 September to 18 January.

Imphal: 70 solar lamps on 5 March.

Indore: 217 school uniforms on 13 February.

Jayrambati: 600 kg pulses, 300 litres cooking oil, 90 kg assorted spices, 300 saris, 300 towels, 300 bottles of hair oil, 300 bars of bathing soap, 300 bars of washing soap and 300 kg detergent powder from December to February.

Kamarpukur: 2600 saris on 23 February.

Kankurgachhi, Kolkata: 115 saris, 130 dhotis and 130 mosquito nets on 1 March.

Krishnanagar: 161 plates of food and 120 children’s garments.

Mumbai: 1050 kg pulses, 350 kg red gram, 140 kg soya chunks, 350 kg milk powder, 700 kg jaggery, 350 kg salt, 350 kg groundnuts, 2800 bars of bathing soap, 350 kg washing powder, 700 tubes of toothpaste, 350 bottles of hair oil and 350 sanitary pads on 14 and 15 March.

Rajkot: 165 school bags, 918 notebooks, 270 stationary pouches (each pouch containing a pen, a pencil, an eraser, a scale and a sharpener) and 619 packets of snacks from 28 February to 21 March.

Saradapitha, Belur: 34 assorted garments and a jacket on 14 March.

Sinthi (Beni Pal Udyan), Kolkata: 70 kg pulses, 32 kg potatoes, 23 kg gram, 4 litres cooking oil, 3 kg assorted spices, 4 kg salt and 17 saris from 1 to 28 February.

Thanjavur: 198 tubes of toothpaste on 25 and 30 March.

Vadodara: 45 wooden desks in March.

Viveknagar, Agartala: 250 dhotis, 175 saris and 250 lungis from 24 September to 25 February.

Bangladesh

Bagerhat: 150 saris, 80 lungis and 47 mosquito nets on 24 and 25 February.

South Africa

Sri Lanka

Batticaloa sub-centre of Colombo ashrama distributed 625 kg rice, 375 kg wheat, 125 kg pulses, 125 kg sugar and 63 kg soya chunks on 6 March.

Aalo: 180 blankets on 19 March.

Darjeeling: 500 blankets from 20 February to 7 March.

Dehradun: 2058 blankets from 1 November to 15 February.

Digboi: 319 blankets from 4 September to 18 January.

Jayrambati: 1000 blankets from 18 December to 18 January.

Kankurgachhi, Kolkata: 130 blankets on 1 March.

Mayavati: 1000 blankets from 27 November to 26 February.

Puri Math: 525 blankets from 11 December to 13 January.

Sargachhi: 500 blankets and 200 shawls from 2 December to 30 January.

Sarisha: 1000 blankets from 23 January to 10 March.

Shyamsayer, Bardhaman: 200 blankets from 14 to 26 January.

Sikra Kulingram: 200 blankets from 15 January to 10 February.

Vijayawada: 500 blankets from 24 December to 4 February.

Bangladesh

Bagerhat: 18 blankets on 24 and 25 February.

Infrastructural Support

Madhya Pradesh: Indore centre donated 200 study tables, 130 sets of school benches & desks, 22 ceramic chalkboards and 1 almirah to 7 schools in Khargone district on 28 February.

Distress Rehabilitation

Tamil Nadu: Thanjavur centre repaired a cowshed at Udharamangalam village in Thanjavur district in February.

Flood Rehabilitation

Assam: Karimganj centre provided 592 corrugated tin sheets and 69 ridges from 7 to 26 March to 30 families in Karimganj district who had been hit by flood in June last year.

Cyclone Rehabilitation

West Bengal: The newly built relief shelter cum non-formal education centre at Hingalganj in North 24 Parganas district was inaugurated on 11 March. The building was constructed through Narendrapur centre, as part of the Cyclone Amphan rehabilitation project of the Headquarters.

Economic Rehabilitation

Assam: Guwahati centre handed over 10 sewing machines and 5 handloom machines (tantsals) to needy women on 26 February.

West Bengal: Shyampukur Bati, Kolkata centre handed over 13 sewing machines and 4 cycles  to poor people on 26 March.
