Relief Services : A Report As On 1 October 2026

Flood Relief:

Relentless rains triggered widespread floods and landslides across several states, causing severe damage to infrastructure and livelihoods. In its wake, the following centres carried out relief operations in the affected areas:

  1. Assam: Continuing its relief services to the flood-affected people of Assam, Dibrugarh centre provided 1200 corrugated GI sheets to 100 severely affected families in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts on 30 and 31 August to help them repair their house roofs.
Phase II — Roofing Material Distribution (30–31 August 2026)

West Bengal:

Malda centre distributed 215 kg muri (puffed rice), 605 kg soya chunks, 620 kg fried chira (rice flakes), 28 kg roasted gram, 270 kg chanachur (snack mix), 50 kg sattu (roasted gram flour), 200 packets of biscuits, 300 kg milk powder, 20 kg tea powder, 50 kg sugar, 600 packets of instant noodles, 2040 litres drinking water, 100 lighters, 400 candles, 221 packets of mosquito repellent sticks, 200 bars of bathing soap and 100 kg cattle feed among 584 families in Bhutni, Malda district, from 14 to 20 September.

Narendrapur centre served meals to 500 people and distributed 15 kg puffed rice, 16 packets of biscuits and 165 mosquito nets among 165 families in South 24 Parganas district from 17 to 29 August.

Sarati centre distributed 620 kg rice, 80 kg pulses, 400 kg potatoes, 6 kg soya chunks, 16 litre cooking oil and 80 kg salt among 160 families in Hooghly district on 12 September.

Fire Relief:

Bangladesh: In the wake of a fire incident in September that burned down a house at Bahogram village in Gopalganj district, Bagerhat centre provided 43 corrugated tin sheets to the family on 19 September to rebuild their house.

Distress Relief:

The following centres distributed various items to needy people, as detailed below:

India:

Coimbatore Mission: 997 meals and 30 kg nutrition powder from 26 August to 25 September.

Gol Park, Kolkata: 500 saris on 20 September.

Jayrambati: 200 kg pulses, 100 kg soya chunks, 100 litres cooking oil, 30 kg assorted spices, 100 saris, 100 bottles of hair oil, 100 bars of bathing soap, 100 bars of laundry soap and 100 kg detergent powder on 20 September.

Kalyani: 320 kg rice, 32 kg semolina, 80 kg muri, 40 kg pulses, 160 kg potatoes and 40 kg sugar on 20 September.

Limbdi: 550 kg wheat in August.

Malda: 100 meals, 100 kg rice, 350 kg potatoes, 82 bottles of hair oil, 164 sachets of shampoo, 82 tubes of toothpaste and 82 toothbrushes from 2 to 30 July.

Porbandar: 750 kg flour, 450 kg rice, 450 kg bajra (pearl millet), 130 kg pulses, 150 kg besan (gram flour), 350 litres cooking oil, 150 kg salt, 90 kg assorted spices, 150 kg jaggery, 75 kg tea powder and 150 kg snacks on 4 September.

Puri Mission: 3040 kg rice from 26 August to 13 September.

Salem: 150 kg chira (rice flakes), 200 kg ragi flour, 250 kg pulses, 250 kg gram, 50 kg dates and 100 kg fried gram on 22 August.

Shyampukur Bati, Kolkata: 100 meals and 100 packets of biscuits on 13 September.

Vadodara: 280 kg flour, 120 kg rice, 50 kg pulses, 30 litres cooking oil, 40 kg salt, 10 kg assorted spices, 40 kg sugar, 10 kg tea powder and 20 bars of bathing soap on 2 and 21 September.

South Africa:

  1. Durban: 356 meals, 358 kg rice, 57.5 kg flour, 63.5 kg pasta, 175 kg maize meal, 252 kg pulses, 126 kg porridge, 153 litres cooking oil, 151.5 kg salt, 126 cans of jam, 304 cans of tinned food, 13,900 tea bags, 125 litres milk, 60 sandwiches, 182 kg sugar, 125 bars of bathing soap, 176 bars of laundry soap, 27 saris, 15 blankets and 179 shopping bags in September.
  2. Phoenix: 100 meals, 1400 kg rice, 45 kg maize meal, 30 kg flour, 20 kg pasta, 120 kg porridge, 400 kg pulses, 100 kg macaroni, 20 kg soya chunks, 650 kg assorted vegetables, 45 kg assorted spices, 120 kg salt, 375 litres cooking oil, 372 cans of tinned food, 30 kg soup powder, 1750 sachets of cereal, 2460 packets of biscuits, 150 cakes, 317 kg snacks, 345 litres fruit juice, 12 kg sweetmeat, 250 sweets, 115 loaves of bread, 110 kg fruits, 250 bars of chocolate, 88 litres flavoured milk, 594 litres milk, 14,500 teabags, 155 kg sugar, 90 matchboxes, a set of kitchenware, 35 bars of bathing soap, 35 bars of laundry soap, 35 tubes of toothpaste, 60 toothbrushes, 320 sanitary pads, 80 adult napkins, 100 assorted garments, 5 assorted bedding items, 4 blankets, 10 school bags, 300 educational toys, 16 sets of garden tools, 49 packets of seeds, 2 prepaid electricity vouchers and 10 kg pet food in September.

Infrastructural Support:

Madhya Pradesh: Indore centre provided 30 tables and 30 benches to a residential school for hearing-impaired children in Khargone district on 18 September.
