Scholarship Disbursement: Jhargram, November 2024

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jhargram, West Bengal


On Saturday, November 30, 2024, Ramakrishna Mission, Jhargram, hosted a modest function to distribute scholarships worth 13 lakhs to 120 deserving students from Jhargram district. These students are pursuing their education in various schools and colleges, including 60 from the Mission’s own institution.

Chief Guest The event was graced by Sri Shubhrajit Gupta, a distinguished alumnus of the Mission and a current WBCS (Exe.) S.D.O. of Jhargram.

Scholarship Breakdown The scholarships were disbursed through various funds:

  • HQ Scholarship: 25 students received Rs 5,000 per annum.
  • Surabhi Foundation: 8 girl students were awarded Rs 5,000 per annum.
  • Lok Seva Kosh: 15 nursing students were granted Rs 12,000 per annum.
  • Infosys Foundation: 60 students from the Mission’s school received Rs 15,000 per annum.
  • A Donor: 12 girl students were given Rs 5,000 per annum.

Additional Scholarships Apart from the above, the Mission also facilitated scholarships ranging from Rs 24,000 to Rs 60,000 per annum for students pursuing higher education:

  • Engineering (2024 Batch): 6 students received Rs 60,000 per annum.
  • Engineering (2023 Batch): 5 students received Rs 60,000 per annum.
  • General: 2 students received Rs 10,000 per annum.
  • ITI/Polytechnic: 4 students received Rs 30,000 – 40,000 per annum.
  • GNM/BSC Nursing: 4 students received Rs 24,000 or Rs 60,000 per annum.

Direct Disbursement A significant aspect of this year’s scholarship distribution was the direct payment of the scholarship amount (approximately 10 lakhs) to 21 students by the donors themselves.
