A half-day Spiritual Retreat was successfully organized by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chandigarh, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The retreat provided an intense period of spiritual practice and reflection for the attending devotees.
Programme Details
The retreat commenced promptly with traditional spiritual practices designed to quiet the mind and invoke divine focus:
- Initial Practices: The session began with Japam (repetition of God’s name), recitation of Vedic Mantras and Stotras, and a period of Meditation.
- Worship: This was followed by readings from the Sri Ramakrishna Vachanamrit (Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna) and the chanting of Sri Ramakrishna Ashtottara Nama (108 names), accompanied by the offering of 108 bilva leaves.
Special Sessions and Conclusion
The afternoon included special addresses and practical sessions:
- Discourse: Swami Atmjnananda Ji Maharaj (from the Brazil centre) delivered a special discourse on the profound topic of ‘Importance of Sadhana in Spiritual Life’.
- Meditation: Swami Ramarupanandaji (from the Shimla centre) conducted a guided meditation session.
- Conclusion: The retreat concluded after the Sandhya Arati with devotional bhajans led by Swami Atmjnananda Ji Maharaj.
The program was well-attended by approximately 150 devotees, reflecting a strong spiritual enthusiasm in the region. Cooked Prasad (sanctified food) was distributed to all attendees at the conclusion of the retreat.
