On the occasion of the 133rd Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions, Chicago, Ramakrishna Mission, Davanagere organised a Chicago Speech Competition for high school and pre-university (PU) college students.
Around 325 students participated in the competition. A total of 77 participants were honoured with cash prizes amounting to Rs. 22,635 along with books on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda valued at Rs. 22,635. In addition, annual scholarships totalling Rs. 50,000 were awarded to 13 meritorious and deserving students. Refreshments were provided to all participants at the conclusion of the event.
