A Youth Convention and Cultural Competition was organised on 14th September 2025 at Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani, in association with the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, Kolkata, by the initiative of the Swami Vivekananda Bhava-anuragi Jela Samity. The event was held to commemorate the Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago Address (1893).
The day-long programme began at 8:30 am with Vedic chanting, setting a devotional atmosphere. More than 120 participants actively took part in recitation, extempore speech, singing, and painting competitions, all centred on the mission and vision of Swami Vivekananda.
The Youth Convention, with about 270 participants, commenced after noon prasad. Swami Ishtavratanandaji Maharaj from RKMIC, Golpark, presided over the programme, while Swami Amareshwaranandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Navadwip, graced the occasion as Special Guest.
The convention focused on present-day challenges faced by the youth, especially issues related to digital distractions and possible remedies. Swami Durganathananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani, highlighted the importance of applying Vivek Intelligence (VI), alongside Artificial Intelligence (AI), to overcome digital addiction and live a value-based life.
The interactive Q&A session witnessed vibrant and motivational discussions, greatly inspiring the young participants. Winners of all the competitions were awarded prizes. The programme concluded with the National Anthem at 4:15 pm.
