Relief and Rehabilitation Services by Ramakrishna Mission in 2021-22
The Ramakrishna Mission conducted several relief and rehabilitation operations during the year. The total expenditure incurred on these was Rs. 19.19 crore. In all, 11,23,101 people of 3,37,629 families in 4597 villages were benefitted. Details of some major operations are given below:

Chengalpattu centre, along with Chennai Math and Salem centres gave 55 Pulse Oximeters, 50 digital thermometers, a wheelchair, a stretcher, 150 cots (with all accessories like mattresses, pillows, pillow covers and bedspreads), 10 infrared thermometers, 60 face shields and 500 hand sanitizer bottles to 2 hospitals. Chennai Students’ Home and Chennai Math jointly distributed 2867 Covid-care kits (each kit containing a pulse oximeter, a vaporizer, a digital thermometer, face masks, a bottle of hand sanitizer, a bar of soap, packets of immunity booster mixtures and tablets) to Covid patients quarantined at their homes and 1030 vapour inhalers and 1030 steel flasks among Covid frontline workers in several hospitals in Chennai. Coimbatore Mission centre distributed immunity-boosting homeopathy medicine among 13,872 people and also set up a 300-bed isolation centre for asymptomatic Covid patients in which 520 patients were treated. Further, Salem centre handed over 90 glucometers, 10 digital BP apparatuses, 533 oxygen masks, 50 oxygen-flow meters, 100 endotracheal tubes, 50 CPAP paediatric masks, 50 BP paediatric cuffs, 100 paediatric nasal prongs, 4 vein detectors, 2 height measuring scales, 5 laryngoscopes, 10 paediatric weighing machines, 20 infrared thermometers, 2 washing machines, 2 hydro extractors, a tumbler dryer and 2 SS soap soda storage tanks to 3 government hospitals in Salem. | 222 villages,

Lucknow centre opened a Covid ward in its hospital where 46 patients were treated between 21 January and 25 February. The centre also installed a new oxygen plant on 1 May and provided free oxygen supply as well as other medical care to Covid patients in and around Lucknow. Varanasi Home of Service ran a 48-bed Covid ward for patients from 17 April to 3 June. The centre also ran a free vaccination centre in which 32,003 persons received vaccination. Vrindaban centre reserved 160 beds for Covid patients in its hospital. A total of 422 patients were admitted to the hospital and 1477 patients were treated in the OPD from 2 April to 24 May. Our Jhargram centre’s ambulance was utilized for taking patients to hospitals. Malda centre provided 21 oxygen cylinders to Covid patients. Telemedicine service was also provided by the centre to 24 persons from 1 to 30 May. These apart, our Malda, Saradapitha, Seva Pratishthan and RKMVERI, Belur, in cooperation with two other organizations conducted Covid vaccination drives and organized camps where a total of 11,850 people received vaccination. Furthermore, Narendrapur centre started a safe home for Covid patients on 28 May; Saradapitha centre ran a 50-bed Covid care centre where 13 patients were treated and also an RT-PCR testing centre in which 272 tests were conducted. Winter Relief: A total of 63,459 blankets and 8112 winter garments were distributed among the needy people through 77 centres in India.
Economic Rehabilitation:
The following centres carried out the following rehabilitation activities:
- Bhubaneswar: Installed a pump set in Tihidi village in Bhadrak district.
- Jayrambati: Reconstructed a house of a poor family in Bankura.
- Khetri: Distributed 50 sewing machines, built a toilet block at a government school in Khetri.
- Kozhikode: Repaired the roof of a house of a poor family in Puthyukode village of Kozhikode district.
- Malda: Reconstructed the roof of a house at Muchia village in Malda district.
- Mumbai: Built a well for drinking water at Shiroshi village and installed a solar-based drinking water system at Kalmavihira village, both in Palghar district.
- Rahara: Distributed 2 sewing machines, a cycle rickshaw and 3 rickshaw-vans.
- Ranchi Morabadi: Set up 12 drinking water plants in Ranchi district, of which 10 are located in villages, 1 each in a slum and on the centre’s campus.
- Salem: Provided 2 couches, an orthopaedic OT table, a negative pressure wound therapy machine, 4 stretchers, 2 desktop computers, 2 water dispensers, an autoclave machine and an anaesthesia machine to a government hospital and two primary health centres in Salem.
Cyclone Rehabilitation:
- Cyclone Bulbul: Belgharia centre built 18 two-room houses, 1 coaching centre and 38 washrooms in the Sundarbans area of South 24 Parganas district, and provided building materials for the construction of 4 houses.
Cyclone Amphan:
Belgharia centre constructed a multipurpose relief shelter cum non-formal education centre at Kaikhali in South 24 Parganas district.
Manasadwip centre provided 40 bags of cement, 62 iron bars, 10 kg binding wire, 1000 bricks, 140 cubic feet stone, 240 cubic feet red sand and 100 cubic feet white sand to a poor family in Manasadwip to reconstruct their house.
Saradapitha centre, Belur, constructed two multipurpose relief shelter-cum-non-formal education centres at Abhirampur and Jangalpur villages in Howrah district.
Cyclone Yaas: Contai centre provided 6000 bricks, 100 bags of cement, 420 cubic feet sand, 50 cubic feet stone chips and 35 iron bars to a poor person at Ariakhali in Purba Medinipur district to reconstruct his damaged house.
Relief and Rehabilitation Services by Ramakrishna Math in 2021-22
The Ramakrishna Math conducted several relief and rehabilitation operations during the year. The total expenditure incurred on these was Rs. 7.01 crore. In all, 4,69,459 people of 1,43,644 families in 1869 villages were benefitted. Details of some major operations are given below:

Also, the centre provided treatment to 155 Covid patients at its hospital, set up two isolation wards with 25 beds for triage and arranged 60 rooms & 40 beds for the treatment of Covid patients. Further, the centre ran a vaccination centre where 6884 doses of vaccine were administered from 1 February to 19 June. Koyilandy centre distributed 3232 notebooks, 1212 pens and 404 geometry boxes among 404 students of six primary schools in Koyilandy between 2 and 6 July. Thiruvalla centre sanitized 87 homes, 6 shops and 2 clinics in Thiruvalla municipal area, distributed provision kits to 25 Covid-affected families and homeopathy medicines among 250 persons.
