Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru, observed its Platinum Jubilee of its fruitful service to humanity on the 3rd & 4th of June 2022. Started on 3 June 1947 in a rented place in Mangalore, the Ashrama was shifted to the present premises at Mangaladevi Road, in 1951. Since then the Ashrama has grown in leaps and bounds through its multifarious activities catering to the different sections of the society and carved a niche of its own in this region.
To commemorate this memorable occasion which happens to coincide with the platinum jubilee of Independence of India, Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru observed 2 days’ “Amrit Mahotsava“.
Shodashopachara Puja of Sri Ramakrishna was performed by Swami Satyavidananda ji and Swami Buddhidananda ji on the 3rd June morning.
After a special puja at Mangaladevi Temple, Srimat Swami Gautamananaji led a procession of sadhus, volunteers & devotees towards Ashrama accompanied by various cultural troupes and artists.
Srimat Swami Gautamananda ji Maharaj, Vice President of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, inaugurated the newly constructed “Amrita Patha – Main Entrance Gate ” in the presence of Swami Muktidananda ji. He also inaugurated the newly constructed “Amrita Sadan – Swami Vireshwarananda Sadhu Nivas” in the presence of Swami Nityasthananda ji Maharaj. He later laid the foundation stone for the proposed “Amrita Bhavan -Vivekananda Coaching Centre & Values Education Centre” building.
This was followed by a stage programme wherein Srimat Swami Gautamananda ji inaugurated “Amrita Sangama” – 2 days’ Devotees’ convention. A special postal envelope was released on the occasion along with a commemorative stamp. Ashram’s revamped website was also launched by dignitaries. A special documentary of the Ashrama was brought out on the occasion. Digital version of the souvenir “Amritatva” was released on the occasion, Printed version will soon be brought out incorporating the photographs & report of the Amrita Mahotsava programme.
The Convention had 22 talks spread out in 6 sessions punctuated with cultural programmes like Yakshagana, harikatha, magic show, music programme etc. Smt Manjusha Patil from Pune performed in Sangeeta Sandhya on the 3rd evening.
About 75 sadhus including ex monastic workers of our centre (35 from our Order & rest from different Bhavaprachar centres in Karnataka) and nearly 1500 devotees attended the 2 days’ programme held in our auditorium.
