Bhumi Puja and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony : Rameshwaram, June 2026

The Bhumi Puja and foundation stone laying ceremony for the proposed Ramakrishna Math Centre at Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, was performed on 4 June 2026. The ceremony was presided over by Most Revered Srimat Swami Gautamananda ji Maharaj, President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, in the presence of monks of the Ramakrishna Order, devotees, well-wishers, and local residents.

The proceedings commenced with Vedic chanting and traditional rituals. Most Revered President Maharaj thereafter ceremonially laid the foundation stone for the proposed Centre. In his blessings, Maharaj spoke of the spiritual significance of Rameshwaram — one of the twelve Jyotirlinga kshetras — and expressed the hope that the Centre would serve as a hub of spirituality and selfless service inspired by the ideals of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna.

In the first phase, construction of a temple, Yatri Nivas, dispensary, student hostel, monks’ quarters, and office-cum-bookstall is planned.
